Have been sporadically following the US 2008 primaries. John McCain has just been anointed the next Republican candidate. Hillary and Obama are still slugging it out.

As far as India is concerned, Bush is not all bad: Look at:

1. Continued outsourcing despite anti-noises in USA.
2. A nuclear deal on the table - India need not take it, but the Yanks seem to have done their bit.
3. Pakistan has been kept busy for many years now and has been kind of quiet towards India, post Kargil, leaving India to focus more on roti-kapda-makan issues.

So in the short term at least, maybe Bush has been OK for India. look forward to other comments on this. Can India expect a better deal with a new Dem Prez?

I'd go with Vincent on this. I was really stumped to see him being elected by the voters after his first term. Or is it another Bihar that is hiding in the US of A, that anyone can become the leader by hook or crook?

The US nationals are as much to blame as Bush Jr. Why did they have to elect him for a second term? Weren't the blunders during his first term enough to vote him out?

Vir Sangvi, the editor of Hindustan times called bush the most powerful idiot in the world. Problem also is that if someone is behaving so idiotically in the most powerful post in the world, cannot he be stopped and called back?Democratic systems and norms also need a revision. There have been reports in the media on how the public is extremely dissatisfied with the leadership the public elections are showing up. I feel that we need a different kind of political accountability
