The recent numbers that I came across, and listening these days:
KYA KHAYAAL HAI
PLEASE TAKE ME THE WAY I AM
BY YOUR SIDE
ZID NA KARO
*
This song makes me feel like Shammi Kapoor. Sharmila Tagore, now mother of one of my favourites Soha Ali Khan, too, perhaps looked best in this song.
*
And these are some of my mood setters:
*
Influenced by wandering sufis and folk musicians, Hoshiarpur-born Satinder Sartaaj’s popularity has seen a constant surge. This video explains why he is there.
*
When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
And when all the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
there’ll be no sorrow, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.

Bob Dylan is my favourite. And how beautiful is his …blowing in the wind…
How many roads must a man walk down / Before you call him a man
Yes, and how many seas must a white dove sail / Before she sleeps in the sand
Yes, and how many times must the cannon balls fly / Before they’re forever banned
The answer, my friend, is blowin’, is blowin’ / The answer is blowin’ in the wind
Yes, and how many years can a mountain exist / Before it’s washed to the sea
Yes, and how many years can some people exist / Before they’re allowed to be free
Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head / Pretending he just doesn’t see
The answer, my friend, is blowin’, is blowin’ / The answer is blowin’ in the wind
Yes, and how many times must a man look up / Before he can see the sky
Yes, and how many ears must one man have / Before he can hear people cry
Yes, and how many deaths will it take till he knows / That too many people have died
The answer, my friend, is blowin’, is blowin’ / The answer is blowin’ in the wind
The answer, my friend, is blowin’, is blowin’ / The answer is blowin’ in the wind

When I posted Greatest Hindi Songs on this site, I really struggled to include my favourites. Many many of my personal numbers could not find place in the list. Alas! The song below from the movie Dil Chahta Hai is my all time favourite, dedicated to all my friends. Enjoy the friendship.
*
Yet another number from Dil Chahta Hai is equally enjoyable. Watch it to find out why people fall in love. But I don’t guarantee you an answer because I am still wondering. No wonder this movie bagged the National Film Award (2002).

Sometimes I feel like Rajnikanth. Then this is the one I like to watch. This prolongs my feeling … of being Rajnikanth. You may give a try.
And now some typical compositions that make you feel good. And finally below these you’ll find those numbers that have shaped me over the years.

The songs below ‘Chala jaata hoon kisi ki dhun mein, Dhadakte dil ke taraaney liye’ (Mere Jeevan Saathi), ’Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya, Har fikr ko dhuyein mein udaata chala gaya’ (Hum Dono), ‘Ye mere diwanapan hai, Ya mohabaat ka suroor’ (Yehudi), ’Ye raat bheegi bheegi, Ye mast fizayein’ (Chori Chori), ‘Hum hain raahi pyar ke, Hamse kuchh na boliye’ (Nay Do Gyarah) and ‘Hai apna dil to awara, Na jaane kispe aayega’ (Solva Saal) have always been part of my mood, as expressed on social networks.
