[Post re-opened on Oct.14, 2013 to insert movies of 2011 and 2012.]
I’d made a year-wise compilation of Greatest Bollywood movies. The such compilation — ‘Greatest Bollywood Movies‘ — is a largely circulated post over internet and is often referred to by film buffs, critics, journalists and friends. It remains one of my most visited as also most shared posts on this blog.
For quite some time, I’d been thinking to update this list with movies made in last few years. So lo, here’s the list. May you please feel free to suggest your preferences. In case we have difference of opinion, I swear, your views shall prevail.
Once again, I have made efforts to present an up-to-date & correct list, yet there may be some inadequacies which may be pointed out immediately. And hello… I shall be happy if any of you can claim to having CDs or video cassettes of all the movies named below. In that case, please lemme know quickly. I will treat you.

Karthik Calling Karthik, My Name Is Khan, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and ilk…are you kidding me!! Greatest movies??..where’s Black Friday?? Mumbai Meri Jaan?? first of all movies are not considered great by virtue of ‘Box office collections’..please rename the list to ‘High Grossers’ or something of that sort..you are doing a dis-service to sensible hindi cinema by publishing such a mis-leading list!!

Again ANDAZ APNA APNA -1994 deserves a place. it is a case study in the genere “senseless comedy” which believe me is a difficult genere to write.

i am a writer and i believe you have gone by BO performance..two good movies that come to my mind right now are SADMA(1983) and WOH SAAT DIN(1983). sadma has one of the finest ends ever in hindi cinema and “HDDC Sanam” is a remake of WSD and i still believe first part of WSD is better than HDDCS of Sanjay Bhansali…please include movies which didnt do well at BO but were good movies
