A profoundly sorry Chris Lee — a married Republican congressman from New York — has done Tiger Woods … flirting and then somersaulting. In the following para, he can be read regretting his actions:

“It has been a tremendous honour to serve the people of Western New York. I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologise to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness.”

This comes after Lee, 46, who has one son, was exposed for flirting online with a woman to whom he lied about  his age and also sent a shirtless photograph.

The unidentified woman had acatually posted a note in the “women seeking men” section on the classifieds site Craigslist, saying she was looking for an attractive and “financially and emotionally secure” man aged 30 to 40. And Lee lied he is 39 and sent his pic posing shirtless.

“The challenges we face in Western New York and across the country are too serious for me to allow this distraction to continue, and so I am announcing that I have resigned my seat in Congress effective immediately,” Lee wrote on his website.

In December 2009, golfer Tiger Woods had announced he would take an indefinite leave from professional golf to focus on his marriage after he admitted infidelity. He had then said: “I know people want to find out how I could be so selfish and so foolish. People want to know how I could have done these things to my wife Elin and to my children…” In March 2010, Tiger Woods announced his come back.
