Muted End & Farce Justice

This Marine had told his troops to “shoot first, ask questions later”, in a raid that killed unarmed Iraqi women, children & elderly. He has now pleaded guilty and WILL CARRY NOT MORE THAN THREE MONTHS confinement despite it being the largest and longest-running criminal case against US troops from the Iraq War.

What defining moments these! What plea deal this, in such GRAVE dereliction of duty!! You are lucky Mr. Frank Wuterich to escape with this on Earth!!! Didn’t the world see the photo (contained in a Naval Criminal Investigative Service report) that showed an unidentified Marine inspecting a roadside scene near Haditha, Iraq, where five unarmed civilians were killed on Nov. 19, 2005. Earlier that day, Marines had stopped a white taxi in which the men had been riding, then allegedly shot them. The incident was the first on a day of violence in Haditha that left 24 civilians dead, among them women and children.

Called the Haditha Case, this trial was the Iraq War’s version of the My Lai massacre in Vietnam as the US government failed to get one manslaughter conviction that implicated eight Marines in the deaths of 24 Iraqis in the town of Haditha in 2005.

Greater Voice asks, didn’t this Marine deserve stricter punishment? Where is the accountability? This Farce Justice Should Be Protested. Or should you SHUT YOUR EYES to this another travesty of justice for the victims and their families? How long innocents will continue to be killed? How long the culprits will continue to be freed? I am neither an Iraqi nor an American. Still I am shaken, as a human being and a world citizen.
