Animals have been eating animals. This has never been for any competition. Even the images like the one used here, courtesy NatGeo via Instagram, is also not scary enough to send chills down our spine.
Similarly, cannibalism is also not unknown to the human race. Men have been eating men. Such practice of humans eating the flesh or internal organs of other human beings keeps surfacing here and there.
This is the dark reality of the life on earth. But, we have now advanced to a stage where we’re involved in killing people, innocent or otherwise. THIS was totally unheard of in any civilization or at any stage during progress of life on our planet.
This NEW development is something totally alien… which we’ve termed as terrorism. This ‘ism’ is further described (by us) as means in the pursuit of political aims. True, as we always say, we may not be interested in politics, but politics is interested in us.
Writing for the Dawn, a few years ago, policy analyst Siddique Humayun painted terror as ‘an attention-seeking monster’, saying, ‘It breeds on recognition – the type of recognition one sees when one turns the television on, or picks up the newspaper, or even opens up a website.’ And what about the notion that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter…!
